Cirque du Soleil: Kooza
Kooza marks Cirque du Soleil's return to its roots: blending acrobatic performance with clown acts and placing the physical demands of circus at the forefront in all their beauty and fragility - with vibrant set design and grotesque humour.
The story unfolds when a Trickster emerges before the character of Innocence, like a jack-in-the-box. This is just the first of many surprises the show delivers. The title Kooza derives from the Sanskrit word "koza" - meaning "box", "chest" or "treasure" - and references the central concept of the production: circus in a box. The cast features an international ensemble of 54 artists, including 6 musicians and 2 singers.
Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian company that has fundamentally transformed circus art: it has completely eliminated live animals from its productions and focuses exclusively on human performance combining acrobatics, dance, music and theatre.
