Prague

free entry

Free entry

Guided architectural walks organized by the Prague 3 Municipal District to mark the 145th anniversary of Žižkov's elevation to city status, which occurred on 15 May 1881 by decree of Emperor Francis Joseph I. The walks focus on the history of Žižkov and its town hall, offering visitors insight into the development of this distinctive Prague neighbourhood. They take place on 20 May at two times — from 14:00 and from 16:00. Meeting point is at the Jaroslav Hašek monument on Prokopova Square. On the same day, from 18:00 in the Ceremonial Hall of the town hall on Havlíčkova Square, there will be a book launch of "Žižkov Sanitation" with a discussion with the authors, and from 15:30 an opening of a panel exhibition mapping Žižkov's transformation from vineyards to a modern Prague district. Entry to the walks is free; advance registration is required.
