Walk through Břevnov Cemetery — Břevnovský hřbitov, Břevnov

Břevnov Cemetery originally served the residents of the village of Břevnov; from approximately the first half of the 18th century, it also became the burial ground for monks from the adjacent Benedictine monastery, whose crypt had by then become full.

This small cemetery is the final resting place of philosopher Jan Patočka, poet Ivan Diviš, singer Karel Kryl, Charter 77 signatory Ivan Medek, astronomer František Nušl, and theologian Anastáz Opasek. You will also find artistically valuable tombstones by Jan Sokol and Jan Koblasa, a monumental neo-Gothic family vault of the Samcov family - likely designed by Josef Mocker - and a Baroque chapel of St. Lazarus.

The walk will be led by Kateřina Svobodová, lasts approximately 60 minutes, and the meeting point is in front of the main gate on U Vojtěšky Street. Children up to and including age 12 enter free of charge and without registration. The event is organized by the Prague Municipal Cemeteries and Funeral Services.
