Madonna mia - Exhibition Finale with Guided Tour by the Artist

The final guided tour of the exhibition will be led by Jindra Viková, the artist behind all the displayed madonnas, with musical accompaniment by Jiří Slíva.

Viková understands the madonna as a universal image of woman in different life situations - a girl, a mother, an aging woman, a vulnerable yet strong being, a figure carrying the experience of love, care and empathy, but also doubt, malice and defiance. Serious poses alternate with exaggeration, sometimes barely noticeable, sometimes more pronounced - her humor never trivializes the subject entirely. Her madonnas can be moving or ironic, sublime or utterly ordinary, and this very changeability is characteristic of her work.

Jindra Viková (born 1946 in Prague) studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, and since the 1970s has established herself as an author of ceramic objects, drawings and intermedia projects - she is among the prominent figures of Czech visual art.
