Odyssey

Odysseus was the king of the Greek island of Ithaca who, according to legend and the poet Homer, invented the famous Trojan Horse - a trick that decided the fall of Troy and ended the exhausting siege of the city. After the battles end, he desires only one thing: to return home to his wife Penelope and son Telemachus.

His bold deeds have angered the gods, who will make his return as difficult as possible. Odysseus faces giants, the seductive sorceress Circe, and other perils - while at home Penelope resists men who wish to seize her and the entire kingdom of Ithaca.

This is why the word "odyssey" has become synonymous with a journey full of obstacles that lead the wanderer away from his goal rather than toward it.
