Royal Day — Národní kulturní památka Vyšehrad, Prague

An event commemorating the 940th anniversary of the coronation of King Vratislav II and his role at Vyšehrad, which he and his wife Svatava of Poland transformed into a symbol of Premyslid power.

King Vratislav II, accompanied by his retinue, will visit the Royal District in Vyšehrad Gardens twice during the day. Both sessions include a ceremonial welcome, commented demonstrations of equipment, weapons and combat, horse training, recruitment of the retinue, and medieval activities for children.

Main programme:

Morning session: 9:45-11:00
- 9:45 Royal procession begins at the Information Centre
- 10:00-11:00 Ceremonial welcome at the Royal District

Afternoon session: 12:45-14:00
- 12:45 Royal procession begins at the Information Centre
- 13:00-14:00 Ceremonial welcome at the Royal District

Supporting programme (10:00-18:00):
- Period camp with demonstrations of crafts, weapons and daily life in the early Middle Ages
- Exhibition "Rises and Falls of Vyšehrad" - transformations of Vyšehrad from the seat of the first Czech king through a military fortress to a national symbol
- Lecture "The First Czech King" - director of the National Cultural Monument Vyšehrad Petr Kučera in the chamber hall of the Burgrave's Palace (11:30)
- Individual tours of the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul, the Basilica of St. Lawrence and archaeological finds in the basement of the Prachárna and the Romanesque bridge (14:00-18:00, paid admission)
