The Silent Friend

In the heart of a botanical garden in a German university town stands a majestic ginkgo tree - an ancient witness to three epochs and three human destinies. In 2020, beneath its crown, a neuroscientist from Hong Kong begins an unexpected experiment. Half a century earlier, a young man undergoes transformation through a simple bond with a plant. And in 1908, the university's first female student discovers incredible patterns of the universe through subtle photographs.

Director Ildikó Enyedi returns with a film meditation that, through the testimony of the ginkgo, poses a simple question: what does it mean to be human and truly belong somewhere?
