Two Decis of Ink

"Two Decilitres of Ink" is a biographical documentary film directed by Ester Geislerová about her father - a Japanologist, translator, journalist, educator and calligrapher Petr Geisler (1949-2009).

From photographs, home videos, letters and memories emerges a portrait of an extraordinarily educated and original man, whose exceptional nature is placed within the context of Czech culture at the end of the twentieth century. The intimate, family dimension - joyful and painful alike - remains at the forefront throughout.

The film meets one of the strictest measures of documentary cinema: a viewer unfamiliar with Petr Geisler will, after watching, feel the desire to meet him - precisely because, or despite the fact that, he remained mysteriously elusive even to those closest to him.
