Juno

Sixteen-year-old Juno (Elliot Page) becomes unexpectedly pregnant by her best friend Paul (Michael Cera). While her classmates navigate school and first love, she faces a decision about her future and that of her unborn child. Rather than end the pregnancy, she chooses adoption and finds what seems like the perfect couple in the newspaper. As she spends more time with the couple, she discovers that the adult world she has stumbled into is far more complicated than she expected.

Jason Reitman's film received four Oscar nominations upon release and won one - for Best Original Screenplay by Diablo Cody. The film opened a debate about unplanned pregnancy so ambiguously that it was long discussed whether it sided with supporters or opponents of abortion rights. The screenplay avoids simple judgments and offers a story about growing up, finding one's place, and taking responsibility for oneself and others.
