Bitter Holidays

Elsa arrives in 2004 on sunny Lanzarote to escape a life crisis and seek a fresh start. But this story is written by an aging acclaimed director, Raúl - and the events and characters strangely echo the fates of those close to him. They begin to recognize themselves in the film and ask uncomfortable questions: where does inspiration end and privacy begin?

With this film, Pedro Almodóvar returned to the main competition at the Cannes Festival. It is his most personal work, featuring the strong female characters and vivid colors that are characteristic of his style.
