My Quiet Thoughts

Twenty-five-year-old Vadym makes his living recording and selling sounds. He dreams of trading his life in Kyiv for a better future in Canada, and when he receives a generous offer to record the sounds of Ukrainian domestic animals and a rare bird from Zakarpattia, he sets out without hesitation. The complication is that his traveling companion will be his own mother.

Debutant Ukrainian director Antonio Lukych films a visually inventive road movie accompanied by synthesizer music and demonstrates a talent for building tragicomic situations.

The film won a special jury prize in the East of the West category at the 54th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. At the Odesa Film Festival it won the national competition, and Irma Vitovska received the award for best acting performance.
