Ivan Zenatý Returns to Foersterova Hall

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 Eisenach - 1750 Leipzig) came from a family with a long musical tradition and passed it on himself - some of his twenty children became notable composers. During his lifetime he was admired primarily as a performer and organist; as a composer he gained little recognition, his music considered unnecessarily complicated at the time. Appreciation came only later. Today Bach is regarded as the culmination of the Baroque style and the author of more than 1000 compositions.

Prof. Ivan Zenatý discovered the violin over 55 years ago and has since performed on the world's leading stages. His repertoire includes more than fifty violin concertos. The journey from the Folk School of Art in Lomnice nad Popelkou, where he grew up, to the world's most prestigious concert halls was made possible by the dedication he continues to devote to his instrument. In early February he celebrated his 62nd birthday.
