Karavana: Little Sister + Discussion
The Karavana series brings films about the Middle East to the cinema, complemented by introductory talks and debates with guests - exploring both pleasant and controversial topics, entrenched myths, and unconventional perspectives on the region. The programme is created through initiatives of the student association Madžlis in collaboration with the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Charles University.
Seventeen-year-old Fatima, the youngest of three sisters, searches for her own path amid emerging desires, attraction to women, and loyalty to her French-Algerian family. She enrolls at a Paris university, goes on dates, makes friends - yet constantly grapples with the dilemma of staying true to herself when reconciling different parts of her identity seems impossible. Director Hafsia Herzi's film thoughtfully navigates the fragile space of inner conflict between sexuality and religion.
A discussion follows the screening. The screening takes place as part of Prague Pride.
