ARAS Provocation: 120 BPM + Discussion with Radim Špaček — Edison Filmhub, Prague
Description was written before the event

Early 1990s. AIDS has been claiming lives for a decade, yet activists from the Paris branch of the ACT UP movement fight against public indifference, government apathy, and pharmaceutical company schemes. Newcomer Nathan meets Sean, a radical activist in the movement whose political struggle is also a fight for his life - Sean is HIV positive and his time is running out.

French director Robin Campillo (longtime screenwriter for Laurent Cantet) interweaves the personal and political through a queer perspective in the film 120 BPM. The film combines a meticulously crafted procedural about the private dimension of ideological battles with an urgent, intensely emotional romance. The title references both heart-rate monitoring and the pulsing house beat of the era's dance clubs.

The screening takes place as part of Prague Pride. Following the film, there will be a discussion with guest Radim Špaček.
