Chica Checa

Fifty-five-year-old Zdena appears to lead an ordinary life as a rural postal worker - her house is falling apart, and she fills her solitude with cucumbers and television. Her son Lukáš lives in France, successful and happy, or so it seems through the screen of an old computer, their only occasional contact.

When ninety-year-old grandmother Věra expresses her final wish - to see Helena Vondráčková - it seems like the whim of a dying woman. But Lukáš's return home brings a secret he has carefully guarded for years: he is gay and makes his living as a successful drag queen, Chica Checa.

The effort to fulfill grandmother's wish unexpectedly brings Lukáš and Zdena closer together. It turns out that Zdena too yearns for a different life than those around her expect - and that stopping lying to those closest to you means stopping lying to yourself.
