Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle
Nádvoří Lobkowiczského paláce, Prague
A guided tour of Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle with guide Alexandra Brabcová. The Lobkowicz family were among the most active art patrons in the Czech lands, and over centuries assembled an extraordinary collection.
The tour visits the family portrait gallery, featuring likenesses of the most prominent Lobkowicz family members and related noble families - particularly the Pernstein and Rozmberk dynasties - as well as Habsburg rulers. Other highlights include a copy of the Prague Infant Jesus figurine brought to Prague by Marie Manrique de Lara, rare dining services, selected items from the Lobkowicz jewel collection, and part of the historical weapons collection. The recently expanded music exhibition complements works by European masters - Lucas Cranach the Elder, Pieter Bruegel the Elder, Diego Velázquez, and Canaletto. The tour also includes historic halls and a chapel with Baroque decoration; from the palace terrace there is a view over Prague.
After the guided tour, visitors may remain in the exhibition to examine the pieces in more detail - an audio guide is available during individual viewing (included in the ticket price).
Meeting point: courtyard of Lobkowicz Palace, Jiřská 3, Prague Castle grounds (not to be confused with the Malá Strana Lobkowicz Palace, seat of the German Federal Republic Embassy). Standard admission 340 CZK; special price 200 CZK per person for Prague with Eyes Wide Open participants (paid on site).
