The Silent Friend
In the heart of a botanical garden in a German university town stands a majestic ginkgo tree - an ancient witness to three epochs and three human destinies seeking freedom and connection with the living heart of the garden.
In 2020, beneath its crown, a neuroscientist from Hong Kong begins an unexpected experiment. Half a century earlier, a young man undergoes transformation through a simple bond with a plant. And in 1908, the first female student of that university discovers incredible patterns of the universe through subtle photographs.
Ildikó Enyedi, one of the most original voices in contemporary cinema, returns with a cinematic meditation that, through the testimony of the ginkgo, poses the simplest question: what does it mean to be human and truly belong somewhere?
