The Vlastivědné muzeum Dr. Hostaše in Klatovy was founded in 1882, when the town purchased the antique collection of local collector František Jung. It occupies a Jugendstil building remodelled in 1905-1907 and runs three permanent exhibitions: the History of the Klatovy Region, the baroque pharmacy U Bílého jednorožce, and the open-air folk architecture exposition in Chanovice. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures and seminars, and has been a contributory organisation of the Plzeň Region since 2003.
