The Water Sprite's Tale | A Tale in the Garden

A cheerful, colourful fairy tale by the Mrak theatre, woven through with songs about water, fish, and ponds.

The water sprite Šplouch refuses to drown people and hand over souls to the water king — so he flees with his daughter Bělička to a pool beneath an old willow by a mill in Bohemia. A stingy miller's wife moves into the mill after buying it cheaply. At first Šplouch grants her wishes, but they turn into demands, and when she asks him to use his powers for her greed, he grows angry and decides to enchant her. The cunning miller's wife is faster — with his own magic wand she transforms the water sprite into a frog.

A wandering man named Pepa becomes the mill's new helper and falls for Bělička. What happens when the water king himself arrives with his entire fish retinue? Will Šplouch remain a frog forever, and will the miller's wife be punished for her greed?
