Run the Brdy – a project promoting movement in nature without performance pressure

The "Run the Brdy" challenge was created to mark the tenth anniversary of opening the Brdy Protected Landscape Area to the public (the territory was opened on January 1, 2016 after the military training ground was decommissioned). The organizer is the Rokycansko Destination Company. The event runs from March 9 to June 30, 2026 – participants can walk or run the routes at their own pace anytime during this period. Entry fee is 199 CZK; registration and information are available at visitrokycansko.cz/beh/. Three routes of varying difficulty are available: Zámeček (5.22 km, elevation gain 45 m) – an easy route suitable for leisurely running, brisk walking, and families with children; Lipovsko (10.05 km, elevation gain 172 m) – a more challenging loop through Brdy forests; Třítrubecká vyhlídka (10.95 km, elevation gain 160 m) – a balanced route through forest trails. Two performance categories are available: leisurely (suitable for walking as well) and a category for more experienced runners. Every participant who completes a route receives a commemorative metal medal. The medal can be sent by post or picked up in person at tourist information centres in Rokycany and Strašice or at the Brdy Nature House. A festive awards ceremony will be held after the challenge ends in June.
