The Source

An elegant doctor, Ingrid (Aňa Geislerová), works in the mid-1980s at a remote provincial hospital. She is trapped by an exhausted marriage and a stagnating career - spending most of her time with patients: delivering babies, ending unwanted pregnancies, and performing sterilizations on Romani women without their full understanding of the consequences.

A new friendship with a young hospital attendant, Agáta, prompts Ingrid to question the rules she has hitherto followed without thought. Ivan Ostrochovský's drama opens a closed chapter of Czechoslovak history - a time when the state decided who could have children.
