Lughnasad takes place at Housův mlýn in Tábor on August 1, 2026 from 6 PM. This Celtic festival marks the beginning of the sun's descent into winter darkness and celebrates sowing, germination, ripening, and harvest. Traditionally regarded as a precursor to harvest festivals, it includes a renewal of harvest rituals.

The programme features a live band in the tavern, a Celtic harvest ritual, storytelling with harp, Irish tales, and tours of the film armoury. There will also be demonstrations of Celtic combat and children's activities including archery, javelin throwing, and more.

About the venue: Housův mlýn

Housův mlýn is a multi-purpose complex built on the foundations of a 13th-century mill, tucked beneath the old town walls of Tábor along the Tismenický stream. Its centrepiece is a film armoury holding over three thousand weapons and suits of armour from well-known feature films - the only one in Europe where visitors can try the exhibits on, not just photograph them. The site also offers accommodation in rooms furnished with original film props, a Hussite tavern and a costume hire. Regular events include the Hussite Days for school groups, Celtic festivals and the autumn Festival of Warriors.
