Budo Matsuri 2026

The 7th Budō Matsuri - Prague 2026 (Festival of Martial Arts) is organized by the Czech-Japanese Society - Budo Kenkyukai under the patronage of the Embassy of Japan in the Czech Republic. The event takes place on 28 October 2026 (Wednesday - public holiday) from 11:00 to approximately 18:00 at the ČVUT Sports Centre (Pod Juliskou 4, 160 00, Prague 6). It is the largest showcase of traditional Japanese martial arts in the Czech Republic.

The core of the programme consists of workshops where you can try individual styles or ask experienced practitioners. The following martial arts and schools are represented: Aikidō, Hiko ryū taijutsu, Iaidō, Jūdō, Kashima no tachi, Karate-dō, Kendō, Kobudō, Kyūdō, Naginatadō, Nakagawa ryū battōjutsu, Ninjutsu, Niten ichi ryū, Shintō musō ryū jō and Tenshin shōden katori shintō ryū.

The supporting programme includes public martial arts demonstrations, a Kyōgen theatre performance, a lecture by Ondřej Hýbel on "kata in budō and Japanese society", a lecture by Roman Kodet on "samurai, warriors of medieval Japan", an exhibition of Japanese swords by Nihontō kenkyūkai, Japanese calligraphy by the school of Petra Vitáskova, and refreshments from the Japanese restaurant Miyabi and the Good Tea House (with talks about Japanese tea).

Tickets are available in pre-sale on the smsticket platform in sales waves - the best prices apply in the first wave until 31 August 2026. On the day of the event, a limited number of tickets will be available on site: adults 250 CZK, children 150 CZK, children under 5 free (accompanied by a paying parent).
