The UMPRUM Biennial: Generation Z exhibition was created in partnership between the National Gallery Prague and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, and is on display on the mezzanine of the Trade Fair Palace from 27 March to 28 June 2026. The curators are Michal Novotný (director of the Collection of Art after 1945 at the National Gallery Prague) and Tereza Vernerová Volná. The exhibition presents works by 25 artists across all UMPRUM studios – from architecture, design and graphic design through animation and fashion to fine art and art theory. These are primarily diploma and bachelor projects from the past two years, many of which have already been awarded recognition beyond the school environment. Recurring themes include embodiment and vulnerability, strategies of identity formation, the intertwining of authenticity with self-stylization, the coexistence of human and non-human entities, and the search for safe shared spaces. The architectural design of the exhibition was prepared by graduates of the Architecture Studio I at UMPRUM, Jakub Herza and Magdalena Uhlířová; the installation is conceived sustainably – all materials come from the school's or the National Gallery's stock. The exhibition includes an extensive catalogue with three essays devoted to generational experience and the changing relationship to virtuality. The exhibition is complemented by a series of guided tours with the curatorial team (in Czech and English), a workshop for children from 6 years old, and a play area for the youngest visitors. Admission to the exhibition is free; open Tuesday–Sunday 10–18.
