The exhibition Lucie Rosická Laundromat: A Gentle Care Program runs at Trafo Gallery in Prague (Hall 14, Holešovická tržnice) from April 17 to June 14, 2026. This is the artist's most comprehensive solo exhibition to date. The project approaches the laundromat space as a contemporary allegory of the artist's personal journey into motherhood—a reality far removed from its idealized image. The laundry room occupies a liminal space where care is mechanized, time is strictly organized, and repetition replaces personal expression. The exhibition foregrounds the industrialized spaces of everyday life and rejects sentimentalizing narratives of care—motherhood is not positioned as a role, but as a state. A portrait emerges of work that is necessary yet overlooked; publicly visible, privately carried, and endlessly repeated. Rosická draws inspiration from works such as Mierle Laderman Ukeles' Maintenance Art Manifesto (1969) and Mary Kelly's Post-Partum Document (1973–1979). The self-portrait remains a key motif, undergoing fundamental transformation here: the artist's face is now clearly recognizable, direct, and unflinching. Thread ceases to be a bearer of certainty and becomes a record of inner state—fragmented and overburdened. The exhibition is free to enter, open Tuesday–Friday and Sunday 3–7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
