Wealthy businessman Edward Lewis arrives in Los Angeles to close another major deal. After getting lost leaving a boring party, he stops to ask for directions and picks up a young prostitute, Vivian Ward. Charmed by her directness, he invites her to his luxury hotel suite and offers her three hundred dollars for the night.

When his lawyer Phil reminds him the next day about a dinner requiring a companion, Edward hires Vivian for the entire week. Luxury shops refuse to serve her, but the hotel manager - mindful of Edward's status - not only doesn't throw her out but helps her buy an elegant dress and teaches her dining etiquette.

What was meant to be a purely business arrangement gradually transforms. Both begin searching for new life goals.
