Tutu Puoane (South Africa)

South African jazz singer Tutu Puoane, three-time African Jazz Awards winner, performs at Jazz Dock.

Her current double album Wrapped In Rhythm is a tribute to the poetry of Lebo Mashile. The first volume was released in March 2024 under the production of Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Thomas Dybdahl, Herbie Hancock and others) and won three South African Jazz Awards. The second volume was created in collaboration with the Grammy-winning Dutch orchestra Metropole Orkest, led by Jaco Bairos (Nu Deco Ensemble) — the orchestra has worked with Vince Mendoza, Jacob Collier, Somi, Ledisi and Lizz Wright, among others.
