Trumpeter Itamar Borochov is the recipient of the Letter One Rising Stars Jazz Award (2021), presented to him by Dee Dee Bridgewater. Like Avishai Cohen, he draws from the geographically diverse heritage of his ancestors and developed his talent on the New York music scene.
He grew up in Jaffa, a historic suburb of Tel Aviv. His music bridges New York with North Africa, where large Jewish communities once lived. As an arranger, he has collaborated with the Israeli group Yemen Blues; his debut album Outset was recognized in Jazz Record's Best poll, and his recording Boomerang reached number 5 on the iTunes Jazz Charts.
