Guided Animal Encounters and Feeding at Ostrava Zoo 2026
Zoologická zahrada Ostrava, Ostrava
free entry (součást vstupenky to zoo)
Guided animal encounters are a popular part of visiting Ostrava Zoo. After the winter break, they start annually in late March — in 2026, the opening took place on Saturday, March 28. During these encounters, visitors learn fascinating facts about specific animal species, their way of life in the wild, and their care at the zoo directly from the keepers. People can often observe the animals from very close range and ask questions. In spring, encounters take place mainly on weekends and holidays; from May onwards, daily. In the 2026 season, a new guided encounter with lion-tailed macaques was added at the Wanderu exhibit (starting at 12:30). The weekend schedule includes encounters with pandas, otters, bears, and gibbons (Chitwan exhibit), chimpanzees, sharks (Papua pavilion), hippos (Tanganyika pavilion), and other species. From May, big cats, giraffes, camels, and others are added. Outdoor encounters take place only in favorable weather; due to unforeseen operational or veterinary reasons, a specific encounter may be cancelled. Guided encounters are included in the zoo admission price and do not require separate booking.
