HradecKrálové Waves — Vila Fuchsových, Hradec Králové
Description was written before the event

A guided walk with documentary filmmaker Šárka Kuchtová.

What was Hradec Králové like in August 1968 during the invasion of Warsaw Pact troops? East Bohemian radio broadcasters refused to end their broadcasts, airport personnel did not accept foreign aircraft, and people in the streets stood in unanimous disagreement against the occupiers. But a year later, everything was different.

The walk tells the dramatic story of radio workers and resisting soldiers. The route also includes the story of the Fuchsova villa and the fate of its owners, as well as the story of the house on V Kopečku, where the chapel of the Moravian Church returned. The commentary is supplemented by screenings of archival photographs and video testimonies of eyewitnesses recorded by the Memory of the Nation project.

Route (2 km, approximately 2 hours) leads from Fuchsova villa on Vrchlického Street no. 985 — where the Czechoslovak Radio HK was located in 1968 — via the current seat of Czech Radio on Tylovo embankment and Osvoboditelů Square to the seat of the Moravian Church on V Kopečku Street 89/17, one of the improvised radio workplaces during the August 1968 events.

Meeting point: Fuchsova villa, Vrchlického 985, Hradec Králové. Payment on site in cash.
