Silesian Days in Dolní Lomná 2026
Dolní Lomná, Dolní Lomná
Matice slezská (Silesian Foundation), local branch in Dolní Lomná, organizes Silesian Days on May 23–24, 2026 in the Matice slezská complex in Dolní Lomná. This is a two-day international folklore festival with a tradition spanning more than 55 years, and it ranks among the most significant folklore events in the region. Saturday, May 23 is the main festival day: following a traditional parade of costumed folk groups, numerous children's and adult folklore ensembles will perform. Each year, two stages in the ethnographic complex — the covered Křínov stage and the open-air Lomňanka stage — host 20 to 25 domestic and foreign ensembles, with a total of up to 900 performers. Groups from Slovakia, Poland, and other countries are regularly invited. The ethnographic complex comprises a collection of stylized wooden cottages and two natural amphitheaters, built by Matice slezská members for the festival's needs — renovation began in 1969 and the complex was completed in 1973. The festival includes the traditional Silesian Fair with refreshments and a Craft Market featuring demonstrations of folk crafts and children's participation. The village of Dolní Lomná is located in the easternmost corner of the Czech Republic, in a picturesque Beskid valley on the border with Poland and Slovakia.
