Invisible Playground: Underground

What lies beneath the ground? How can we learn to recognize, hear, and feel the systems that keep us running, even when they are invisible? And how do we know if they are disrupted or broken?

The outdoor spaces of the Old Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bubeneč serve as a field for exploring the city's hidden metabolisms – ingenious filtration systems that mimic self-cleaning processes in nature, but under control and in accelerated mode. The gathering opens questions about invisible labor (such as care for others), invisible groups of inhabitants – human and non-human – and who shapes the boundaries of visibility, benefits, and exclusion.

The first Underground gathering as part of the Invisible Playground cycle will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00 on the meadow of the Old Wastewater Treatment Plant Bubeneč, Prague 6. On the occasion of Children's Day, the program offers thematic stations, creative workshops, movement activities, and simple experiments – children will explore how water flows, where waste disappears, who cares for the city's cleanliness, and how sound travels through the space. They will work with maps, materials, colors, prints, and sound; individual stations are connected by a shared game in which children collect map pieces and gradually uncover the invisible place. The program is designed for children and their companions. After the gathering ends, participants will move together to a garden celebration in the Tusculum area.

The event will take place outdoors in any weather. Clothing and footwear that can get dirty, snacks, and head covering are recommended. Refreshments – drinks and something sweet – will be provided on site.

Entry functions as voluntary (supporter) admission – it is not a classic ticket, but an opportunity to contribute to the program's operation. Contributions directly enable artist fees, production, and space maintenance.
