A sermon on personal courage and independence.

The play explores the theme of individual independence within a traditionally functioning institution — here represented by a Catholic seminary. A young student turns to a popular priest for advice and help, but soon encounters not only church rules, but above all the rigidity of their earthly representatives. He faces expulsion from the seminary for his unorthodox approach.

It is a sophisticated character study that at the same time abounds in comic situations — these do not diminish the main theme of personal courage, but rather emphasize it.
