Eastern Promises by Kamila Dolotina: Mother + Discussion with Lukáš Jirsa
Edison Filmhub, Prague
Eastern Promises is a curatorial programme by film dramaturg and critic Kamila Dolotina. The programme focuses on emerging talents from Eastern Europe and places them in dialogue with the region's classics and contemporary culture — each screening includes a debate contextualizing the film within a broader framework. It builds on the same-named section presented at the Summer Film School in Uherské Hradiště.
Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska brings a portrait of Mother Teresa of Calcutta in the film Mother, played by Swedish actress Noomi Rapace. The film follows the story of a nun before she became a world-famous figure, exploring the person behind the myth — her complexity, ambitions, and inner struggle.
A discussion with Lukáš Jirsa will follow the screening.
