Germany, 1962: Twelve-year-old Karla runs away from home and seeks help at a police station. She stands up to her father's authority, her family's silence, and a society that would rather look away than listen. She files a criminal complaint against her father for sexual abuse.
Despite obstacles, mistrust, and pressure from those around her, Karla does not back down and insists on her truth. She files a lawsuit and gradually changes more than she ever imagined possible. In Judge Lamy, she finds someone who believes in her and is willing to accompany her on this journey.
The film is inspired by a real court case and tells the story of a young girl's courage to stand up for herself and break the silence - and in doing so, give voice to others who have experienced similar trauma.
