Africa Punk Style
A hitchhiking journey through Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Botswana - during rainy and hot seasons alike. How do you travel on a budget in countries where most visitors go on expensive safaris? What can be planned and what falls apart anyway?
Volunteering at a school, an eco-hostel and an orphanage. Walking where people usually don't, hitchhiking where it's not common - two months of punk travel you're never quite ready for. From amazing encounters to harsh daily reality.
We'll explore endless bush, visit locals at home and one of the world's most beautiful lakes, encounter animals in parks and beyond. We'll hike an unvisited trail in Tanzania, mystical mountains in Malawi, experience dramatic situations and unexpected surprises. In some places locals see a white person for the first time; in others they've seen plenty.
At the end of the journey we stop in eastern Turkey, where Lara joins me and we hitchhike back to Europe together. Around 500 km on foot and over 11,000 km hitchhiking - a somewhat crazy story about freedom, happiness, sadness, challenges and one big improvised adventure.
