Misanthrope | NT Live

Canadian star Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Grey's Anatomy, Sideways) takes the title role in a sharp new version of Molière's classic dark comedy.

Telling the truth is not always straightforward. Brilliant writer Alice despises the carefully constructed lies of modern society. Yet the more she provokes those around her, the more strongly she feels their resistance. Soon she must face the fact that speaking truth in a world that would rather silence her comes at a cost.

This production, filmed live on the stage of the British National Theatre and directed by its artistic director Indhu Rubasingham, presents an eagerly anticipated new adaptation by Martin Crimp, who has successfully modernized works such as Cyrano de Bergerac.
