Voice from the Banknote: Ema Destinová

A theatrical production with documentary elements about Ema Destinová, an opera singer whose voice captivated the world at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Czech nation valued her so highly that her portrait was placed on the two-thousand-crown banknote.

About her, without her - four women and two men gradually give testimony about the ordinary and extraordinary days in the life of the Czech opera diva. What weighs on the speakers' hearts and what do they dare to tell the world after Ema Destinová's death? What kind of people surrounded the singer throughout her life, and how is it possible that despite her pure nature, they mostly regard her with contempt? The dead lose the right to defend themselves.

The production is loosely based on the monodrama Commedia Finita.
