Shakespeare's Puppet Mass — Libeň Synagogue, Prague

The "Shakespeare Grand Puppet Mass" welcomes believers and skeptics alike, puppet theatre enthusiasts and poetry lovers - those who enter churches as if entering their own home, and those whose home has no walls. It is a celebration of joy in human imagination and creativity, flowing from faith in the Globe. In winter, audiences gather to share the world of the Great Bard - his words of mystery and madness. There is no need to understand them; it is enough to see, hear, and feel them.

The "Shakespeare Grand Puppet Mass" is a project of the international theatre group KHWOSHCH in collaboration with singers from the choir Veselé chvíle. The form of the performance draws from Christian worship - the outline of liturgy serves as a dramaturgical key to grasping Shakespeare's texts. The grandeur of choral singing intertwines here with the delicacy of puppet theatre, until order and chaos become one.

The "Shakespeare Grand Puppet Mass" is performed in churches, chapels, synagogues, and other sacred buildings, with which it enters into dialogue and transforms their sacred urgency into drama. "The island is full of melodious sounds. They will delight the ear, yet cause no harm, fear not."

The performance is language-accessible.
