"Witchcraft Through the Ages" / Benjamin Christensen / Denmark, Sweden 1922 / 122 min. A difficult-to-categorize film that, through meticulous work with historical sources, transcends genre boundaries and approaches documentary filmmaking. Danish film pioneer Benjamin Christensen created an original work - oppressive and horror-tinged - whose macabre charm endures to this day.
