Karu Süda - Bear's Heart
A young Estonian man named Nika leaves behind the stereotypes of city life and travels to Siberia with dreams of becoming a hunter. During long days of solitude, he encounters Ngannssan - his shadow and guide through life. This mystical presence protects him, teaches him how to survive in the forest, and points out his mistakes. One day Nika witnesses a mating ritual between two bears. The male attacks him, and Nika kills it in self-defense. The female bear then begins to "flirt" with him as if he were the victor of their struggle, and the two slowly become friends. Nika's life is transformed by encounters with two women who represent two starkly different worlds: Guita, a rural schoolteacher, and a wild indigenous "bear woman." The mystique of harsh nature and the necessity to survive in extreme conditions teach him a new perspective on life: he learns to bear the weight of absolute freedom and responsibility for himself.
