Auctoritas Moralis
What makes authority authoritative? And who determines the boundary between obedience and betrayal of oneself?
We stand on a scale. I answer yes or no. It will be agreement or resistance. Inaction or action. Between what authority demands of us and what we are willing to give.
Author's theatre from the Paměti národa atelier draws on the personal story of David Kabzán, who was seventeen when the StB first took him in for interrogation. We too are teenagers and ask ourselves whether we would be able to resist.
Auctoritas Moralis examines how young people today approach questions of morality, authority and freedom. It is a production about how the questions faced by people in 1989 have not remained in the past - they just look different now.
Warning: The production contains vulgarities.
