Slam Poetry

Four slam poets - Anatol Svahilec, Malda, Adja, and Růny - are coming to Kopřivnice.

What is slam poetry? It emerged in the mid-1980s in the USA and has since spread worldwide. It is neither a traditional author reading nor a recitation competition - the poet-performers focus on what they communicate and how they communicate it, ideally at the intersection of poetry and theatre.

Audience interaction is key: it is an interactive discipline where spectators score, participate, and exchange energy, ultimately deciding the outcome. Facial expressions, tone, movement, rhythm, text, and improvisation principles all come into play. The essence is best captured in one phrase: poetry versus show!
