Siebeneichener Quartett + Gabriela Matoušková — Salón Celetná, Prague

The Siebeneichener Quartett string quartet (David Hernych - violin, Marek Pavlica - violin, Dorothea Dalecká Kellerová - viola, David Pěruška - cello), the resident ensemble of Salón Celetná, returns with an evening dedicated to Janáček, Schulhoff, and Brahms. The first half features Janáček's String Quartet No. 1 "Inspired by Tolstoy's Kreutzer Sonata" - music inspired by the fateful story of an unhappy marriage - and Ervin Schulhoff's Five Pieces for String Quartet, a suite of stylized dances (waltz, serenade, czardas, tango, tarantella). About the artists:

Siebeneichener Quartett was founded in 2023 by students of the Prague Conservatory under the artistic direction of Radim Sedmidubský. Shortly after, it participated in the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Competition 2023, where it won first prize as well as the award for best participant and the Viktor Kalabis and Zuzana Růžičková Foundation Prize. In 2024, it completed a masterclass with Areta Zhulla, first violinist of the Juilliard String Quartet, and was invited to attend masterclasses at Juilliard School in New York a year later. It has also studied with Fedor Rudin and performed at the South Bohemian Chamber Festival, the Bohuslav Martinů Days, the Prague Music Celebrations festival, and the Golden Pea festival in Pardubice. As the resident ensemble of Salón Celetná, it has had the opportunity to work under the direction of violist Pavel Nikl.

Clarinetist Gabriela Matoušková studies at Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Wenzel Fuchs.
