Vlasta
Malý Berlín presents a performance that combines contemporary dance, physical theatre, authentic documents, and video projections into a stage image of memory, trauma, and human resilience.
"Vlasta" is an original dance documentary-drama inspired by the true life story of a woman born in 1925. Her fate becomes the starting point for exploring identity, family memory, and the question of how a person carries their own past. Real letters, period documents, and a recording of an interview with the main character's daughter merge with movement and music into a work that brings reality back to life rather than simply narrating it.
Vlasta's story encompasses a childhood marked by her mother's suicide, sexual violence, unjust accusation, and deportation to Ravensbrück concentration camp, post-war rejection by her own father, love, motherhood, and a lifelong struggle with psychological pain. The production is not a historical reconstruction - it opens up themes that remain relevant today.
Ultra-minimal-ballet (UMB) is an independent collective of professional dancers founded by choreographer Alena Pešková. It operates on the principle of maximum audience impact achieved through minimalist means - intimate space, economical music, a small number of performers. It creates contemporary dance theatre that reveals its own choreographic and theatrical methods and invites audiences to active perception.
