On Monday, October 19 at 7 p.m., the evangelical Church of St. Salvator will host a screening of the film How Golem Came into the World (directed by Paul Wegener and Carl Boese, Germany, 1920) as part of the DAS FILMFEST festival.

The film will be accompanied live by the Hamburg St. Nicholas Choir, with Knud Feddersen on percussion and Polish organist Patrycja Olszewska at the organ. This creates a European musical project where different cultural traditions and artistic expressions meet.

About the venue: Church U Salvátora

The Church of the Most Holy Saviour stands at Křižovnické náměstí, right next to Charles Bridge, and is one of the most prominent early Baroque churches in Prague. It is administered by the Jesuits and hosts regular masses as well as occasional sacred concerts. The facade is lined with statues of saints, and the interior features rich stucco decoration.

About: Ernst Deutsch

Ernst Deutsch was an Austrian-German stage and film actor, a notable figure of German Expressionist cinema. In the silent film The Golem: How He Came into the World (1920) he played the student Famulus. After World War II he became one of the respected actors of German-language theatre.
