Alf Carlsson & Jiří Kotača Quartet

Alf Carlsson & Jiří Kotača Quartet will perform at Jazz Dock.

Alf Carlsson & Jiří Kotača Quartet is a collaborative project of Swedish guitarist Alf Carlsson and Czech trumpeter Jiří Kotača. Both musicians met while studying in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and what began as a planned visit by Alf to Czechia evolved into a short tour and eventually a permanent ensemble. The band has been active for three years and has performed over 50 concerts at jazz festivals and clubs in Sweden, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. The quartet is completed by young Slovak jazz musicians - Peter Korman on double bass and Kristián Kuruc on drums.

The quartet's music blends lyrical Scandinavian melodies with contemporary jazz and touches of Moravian and Slovak folk traditions. The band emphasizes sonic diversity and strong melodies, bridging different musical traditions and the individual roots of its members. In summer 2019, they recorded their debut album "Journeys".
