Exhibition Opening: Adam Štěch - Postmodern Bubble: Japanese Architecture of the 1980s — Winternitzova vila, Prague

The exhibition opening takes place on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 6:00 PM at Winternitzova vila. Entry to the opening is free. The exhibition can then be visited during the villa's opening hours (Sunday-Wednesday, 12:00-18:00) from October 18, 2026 to January 24, 2027.

The creative group Okolo presents its sixth exhibition cycle at Winternitzova vila, this time dedicated to Japanese architecture of the 1980s.

During that period, Japan had become the world's second-largest economy, and economic prosperity enabled architects to realize bold ideas on a grand scale. The streets of Tokyo, Kyoto, and other cities saw buildings inspired by comics, films, and sci-fi visions - structures resembling giant robots made of polished chrome and concrete, houses assembled like oversized building blocks, or airy constructions shaped like silver clouds, complemented by unique interiors and art nouveau fantasy.

The exhibition was curated by Adam Štěch, a curator, photographer, and architectural historian.
