Flood

Potopa tells the story of a family in Czechoslovakia in 1980. Mara is 15 years old and dreams of becoming a pilot and escaping village life. Her father Alexander, a Ruthenian farmer and widower, insists she stay home and continue working the family land. When the valley faces flooding for the construction of the Starina reservoir, both must come to terms with the loss of their home and family heritage. At the same time, they search for a path to reconciliation amid the struggle between tradition, identity, and the desire for freedom.
