Exhibition by Radka Bodzewicz: FAUST with the Artist and Curator
DOX Centrum současného umění, Prague
Radka Bodzewicz's work has long drawn inspiration from literature - poetry, prose, and philosophical texts. For her exhibition at DOX, she chose to engage artistically with another iconic literary work: Goethe's Faust. She understands the story of Doctor Faust as an expression of Jung's principle of archetypes of human desire - patterns of experience that are the motivation, driving force, and architect of human destinies. In the universal conflict between good and evil, Faust becomes in her interpretation an embodiment of personal stories about the desire for knowledge, love, power, fame, and transgression, but also about the fatality and irreversibility of one's own decisions and pacts with the devil.
The guided tour will be led by Radka Bodzewicz, the artist, and Michaela Šilpochová, the exhibition curator.
On October 15 at 19:00, the launch of the FAUST catalogue will take place.
